Functional kumiki created by a small tongue and groove

Mechigai (tongue and groove joint) could be used on its own, but is often applied to other kumiki, to provide a structural support or to prevent warping of parts. The smaller projection differentiates Mechigai from similar types of kumiki using projections, such as Sao and Hozo. It can be joined while sliding, thus it can limit the direction of shifting.
